PLEASE BE ADVISED OF THE FOLLOWING TOWN ORDINANCE:
Burning of leaves and rubbish.
No owner, lessee, occupant or person in charge of any building or dwelling shall burn, and no person shall ignite or burn in any street or highway within the limits of the Town, any dead leaves, grass, weeds, empty boxes, crates, barrels, branches, limbs of trees, clothing, refuse, rubbish or waste materials or substance of any kind whatsoever.
If a small outdoor fire pit is being used for recreational purposes, the following NFPA Guidelines shall be enforced:
NFPA 1
- No permit is required.
- Recreational fires shall not be located within 25ft of a structure.
- A metal mesh cover shall be used over fire pit when in use.
- Recreational fires shall be constantly attended by a competent person until such fire is extinguished. This person shall have a garden hose connected to the water supply or other fire extinguishing equipment readily available for use.
- The AHJ (Fire Department) shall be authorized to require any recreational fire to be immediately discontinued.
